Processing
The steel is suitable for cold-forming adhering to a bending or folding radius of > 4 times plate thickness longitudinal and > 3 times transverse to rolling direction. A subsequent stress relief annealing is possible up to a temperature of 580°C.
Hot-forming above 580°C is possible. A subsequent quenching and tempering has to be carried out according to the conditions of delivery.
Drilling with cobalt-alloyed high-speed steels HSSCO. Cutting speed should be approximately 17 - 19 m/min.
If HSS drills are used, cutting speed should be approximately 3 – 5 m/min.
Material with temperatures under 5°C and thicknesses ≤ 40mm should be preheated to RT. Plate thicknesses > 40mm should be preheated to 100°C, 80mm and over should be preheated to 150°C.
The steel is suitable for all current welding methods. In principle, preheating is not necessary for thicknesses up to 30mm.
The following preheating temperatures are recommended:
20mm – 40mm: 75°C
Over 40mm: 100°C
60mm and over: 150°C
Material with temperatures under 5°C should be preheated to RT for plate thicknesses < 20mm. Interpass temperature should be between 150°C and 225°C. These indications are standard values only, in principle,
in accordance of SEW 088 should be adhered to.
Depending on the welding method, the t 8/5 times should be between 5 - 25 s. If stress relief annealing should be necessary for constructional reasons, it should be in the temperature range of 530°C - 580°C.
